NI VeriStand is software for real-time test applications. Most VeriStand applications require the creation of custom devices, and part of the creation process is the definition of behavior in the System Explorer. The Item class can represent one of the tree nodes, and child classes can represent nodes of specific types. The Item class handles the two different ways VeriStand stores node references and lazily converts between them as needed.
